98.5 KTIS Family Reunion brings family together after 30 years
MCC staff report

ST. PAUL — In July, 98.5 KTIS reunited one family for the first time in 30 years.

The KTIS Family Reunion invited listeners to explain why they would want to bring their family to the Twin Cities for a station-sponsored Family Reunion weekend.

Five finalists were selected, and more than 92,000 votes were cast online by KTIS listeners. Valerie Hoag, of Zimmerman, Minn., was the grand prize winner.

“Separated and put in foster homes as kids, Valerie longed to see her brothers, sisters, [and] mom and dad again,” said Morgan Wood, KTIS Promotions Director. “It had been 30 years and we were glad to help make this dream come true.”

Maplewood Toyota helped sponsor the reunion, and KTIS flew in 20 of Hoag’s family members from Texas, Colorado, Arizona and Alaska. Almost 100 people were in attendance for the weekend, and KTIS artist Matthew West performed a private concert for the Hoag family.

98.5 KTIS is a nonprofit, listener supported adult contemporary Christian radio station owned and operated by Northwestern College.
