Mike Magnuson
Mike Magnuson is a member of The Happiness Four Ministry, Inc., which consists of the Magnuson family. The Magnuson family immigrated to the United States from Sweden, and now resides in Mora, Minn. For the past 29-1/2 years, Mike and his family have traveled around the country in full-time service, sharing the Gospel through Christ-centered message, music and ministry. The ministry is interdenominational.
The Happiness Four started in Sweden in 1968, when three brothers and one sister started singing in their father’s church. After moving to the U.S. in 1972, the ministry continued on a part-time basis until Feb. 12, 1979, when God called the whole family into full-time ministry.
In August of 1983, Sam (oldest brother) passed away, and then in July of 1996, Dave (middle brother) passed away, and just recently in November of 2007 Bertil (dad) passed away. Their wonderful addition to the ministry is greatly missed.
Noomie (sister) now lives in Forest Lake, Minn., with her family and is still a great part of the ministry. At this time, The Happiness Four consists of Mike (youngest brother) who sings. He is the leader and also shares his personal testimony. Mike’s wife Lynette and his mom Mona also travel with Mike and share their testimonies of God’s faithfulness in their lives. Mike has recorded several recordings over the years with his family and has also recorded three solo CD’s.
Mike Magnuson will perform on Senior’s Day, Thursday, August 28 from 1:15-2:30 p.m.
Garrett and Andrea Novak
This western Wisconsin couple travels around the Midwest sharing a musical message of hope, encouragement and restoration in Jesus Christ! They share tight vocal harmonies, rich times of worship and stories of God’s faithfulness in intimate worship or full concert settings.
Years before they met, God was taking them in directions that were incredibly similar. Both Garrett and Andrea were music majors in college, but then each headed in a different direction. Garrett spent nearly 20 years in broadcasting (including 10 years in Christian Radio), was a youth pastor and part of several Christian musical groups and worship teams. Andrea worked in children’s and music ministry and is a Registered Nurse. God brought their “blended” family of eight together in 2002. By His grace, they are a testimony to the fact that he truly is the God of second chances. Each day is an incredible “adventure in Jesus!”
For men’s, women’s, family and youth retreats, church concerts, Bible camps, coffeehouses, community outreach, Garrett and Andrea can even emcee your special event. They work with non-denominational youth ministries, lead worship for western-Wisconsin area Women of Faith rallies, and share a message of encouragement to youth and families as they share God’s amazing love story and hope of restoration in him.
They have gone through some incredible “valley experiences,” but God has been faithfully walking beside them through it all.
“It’s an amazing adventure to follow Christ—and when you live for him with reckless abandon, you will realize with God anything is possible!” Garrett said. “There are many Christians who have ‘scars’ and have never healed fully, just ‘going through the motions’ of life. Scars aren’t something horrible … just a reminder that you went through something and survived. Remember the scars of the one who loves you so much he gave his life for you.”
For booking information visit www.talltimberministries.com, or call (715) 559-7515.
Garrett and Andrea Novak will be leading the worship music for the Sunday services on August 31 (7:45, 9:30 and 11 a.m.) as well as performing at the Chapel at 1-2:30 p.m.
Garret also sings with the group, Sequoia, who will be performing at 5-6:30 p.m. on the same day.
1st Corinthians
1st Corinthians is a Twin Cities Christian band spreading the Message through contemporary praise and worship. The group originated in August of 2006, when Duane Ward, from Shakopee, Minn., brought to life his vision to introduce upbeat Christian music to venues throughout the area that have not experienced this style of worship towards God.
Fulfilling their mission, the band has shared worship with the residence’s at The Commons in Eagan during their Saturday morning service; played two years at the MN Church Expo in Brooklyn Park; will be playing Labor Day for the second year at Crossroads Chapel at the Minnesota State Fair, and are regular worshippers in the lineup at Northwestern Book Store’s coffee shop in Burnsville. The group also volunteers for worship leadership at various Twin Cities church’s events, including picnics, services, etc.
Another venue the band has been blessed by is the service at the Women’s Correctional Facility in Shakopee. 1st Corinthians plays at the prison once per quarter, through the InnerChange Freedom Initiative (IFI) program. During the service, inmates are able to come together to hear the Word of God through teaching and music.
“For 1st Corinthians, it is a chance to share some of the light, joy, and peace that can only come from a relationship with the Savior. It is the band member’s hope that they are making a difference in people’s lives by sharing their gifts through worship.”
1st Corinthians is a full band consisting of two guitars, bass, keyboard, drums and three vocals.
The original members of the band had all worshiped together at various times on teams at Friendship Church in Prior Lake/Shakopee. Over time, participation has changed and now includes members from a variety of area churches including Friendship Church, Cedar Valley Church in Bloomington, and The House in Burnsville.
The music consists of songs, and an environment, that engages worshippers of all ages to connect with the Holy Spirit through praise.
The team plans to continue to grow their ministry throughout the community for as long as God paves the pathway.
To schedule the band for an event, contact Kristy Mahoney at (612) 990-6052 or krissm63@hotmail.com.
1st Corinthians will be performing twice (9:45-11 a.m. and 11:30-12:45 p.m.) on Labor Day, Sept. 1.
